from the Beginning
LA Dance Project | March 2023
After a long time living out of the country, dancer Megan Doheny returned home to live in her childhood home in California. Inspired by self reflection, this confrontation of childhood and the realities of what is passed from mother to daughter takes form as a collision of VCR video recordings and dance. This piece dives into how, similar to the interaction of humans and bodies of water, living in one's childhood home is both supportive and suffocating.
